Exhibit Supply Co. 1927 green tinted set of 64 with graded Ruth and Gehrig.
Lot 193. Exhibit Supply Co. 1927 green tinted set of 64 with graded Ruth and Gehrig. The 1927 green set’s difficulty is often confused with the 1928 Blue set. The truth is that’s it far more difficult and is a very tough set to piece together. The set here, while not a high grade set, does give the collector the rare opportunity to obtain a seldom offered complete set. Highlights: Gehrig (SGC 20 FAIR 1.5), Ruth (SGC 20 FAIR 1.5), Cobb (ex appearance but fair, light pencil mark on rear, album page remains and spot of paper loss), Johnson (very good), Goslin (very good), Speaker (good), Collins (ex+ appearance but good, light pencil mark on rear, album page remains and 2 tiny spots of paper loss), Bancroft (poor, corner chipped, creased), Gehringer (very good), Grimes (vg-ex), Hartnett (vg-ex), Heilman (poor, 1” tear)), Lazzeri (vg, slight writing on rear), Rixey (ex), Hornsby (vg-ex), Lindstrom (gd, 2 pinholes), Cuyler (vg), Traynor (vg-ex), Alexander (vg), Bottomley (vg), Schalk (ex+ appearance but good, pencil mark and “Toy Town” rubber stamp on rear, album page remains), Sisler (ex front, pen signature and date on rear) and Wheat (vg). Balance of set: 12 cards very good-excellent, 15 cards very good and 12 cards fair-good. Winning Bid $2,600.
