Lot 213.  1907 Metamorphic folding Baseball Mail Card (postcard) for the 1907 New York Yankees. Card shows a 1907 American League schedule on inside front cover and a metamorphic foldout showing five flaps, each with two players on both sides. A total of 20 players are illustrated. The players include A. Mahon (Sec’y), Clark Griffith (Mgr.), Chesbro, Orth, Clarkson, Hogg, Brockett, Doyle, Keefe, McGuire, Kleinow, Thomas, Chase, Williams, Elberfeld, LaPorte, Keeler & Kleinow, Hoffman, Conroy and Moriarity. Baseball related note to addressee on inside back cover. Postally used in 1907. Very good-excellent.
Winning Bid $1,000.

Lot 214.  Circa 1910 real photo postcard featuring Ty Cobb in Matheson “Silent Six” automobile SGC 50 VG/EX 4. Card shows Cobb, teammate Davy Jones, boxer Barney Oldfield and a representative of the automobile company. Excellent condition with a clean unused Azo (arrows pointing up) back .
Winning Bid $550.

Lot 215.  Rare advertising post card for Royal Tailor featuring Frank Chance. Card shows some wear at upper right border, otherwise excellent. Postally used card (in 1914) shows an ad for Royal on the back side.
Minimum Bid $500.

Lot 216.  Incredibly rare real photo postcard of 6 1915 Brooklyn Dodger pitchers in Spring Training. Was featured in the April, 1988 issue of The Old Judge. The card measures 9 3/4” x 3 1/2”. Writing in the lower border identifies the pitchers as Wheezer Dell, Leon Cadore, Ed Appleton, Goodrell, Chubeks and Sherry Smith. Written on the top border of the card is “1915 Rookie Pitchers Brooklyn National League”, though Dell and Smith came to Brooklyn from other teams. The postcard has the “AZO” designation with the arrows pointing upwards. The photographer’s name W.L, Coursen, Daytona, FL, is embossed in the lower left. The card has some creasing in the corners, the upper two corners have been reattached by tape. The photo quality is excellent and the postcard is unused. It’s probably one of a kind.
Winning Bid $1,465.

Lot 217.  Very rare 1916 Colonial Baseball Club Real Photo post card with Ty Cobb. This is the second example of this we’ve ever seen. The first was in our April 2006 auction (Lot 203) when we wrote “Very mysterious composite card with 20 cameos. Ty Cobb is clearly shown and identified in the middle. All the players are in matching uniforms with, what appears to be a bust of George Washington on the uniform. The team is identified as the Colonial Baseball Club and “Season 1916” is noted., The lower left of the card lists a score of “Colonials 4, Brooklyn Nt. League Champs 1” and similarly the lower left lists “Colonials 3, Boston Red Sox Worlds Champions”. This clearly implies the Colonials played both 1916 pennant winners later in the year and beat them both.” This new discovery is not in as nice condition as the former card, which went for $1,210, but is accompanied by a nice companion piece. A real photo post card showing game action in the game the Colonials defeated Brooklyn 4-1. The composite card has a piece of the upper right corner missing and a crease along the bottom. The RPPC of the game is excellent.
Winning Bid $605.

Lot 218.  RPPC of Babe Ruth in Boston uniform sitting in the dugout. A fascinating postcard which we’ve never seen before. Ruth is in the dugout, with a jacket over his left arm, possibly indicating he was pitching that day. He is accompanied by Harry Hooper (on his right) and Olaf Henrickson at the far right and Everett Scott on Ruth’s left. The card would have to be dated between 1914 and 1917 (Henrickson was gone in 1918). The photo quality is excellent despite a slight blemish on Ruth’s face. Unfortunately the card has been cut at an angle on the right side, losing about 1/4” at its width. Possibly one of kind.
Winning Bid $491.

Lot 219.  Phenomenally crisp 1927 Real photo postcard of Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig with a group of Boy Scouts at St. Louis. Card shows Ruth and Gehrig standing amidst a few dozen boy scouts at Sportsman Park in St. Louis. The stands were full and apparently it was before a game. The back implies both Gehrig and Ruth hit Home Runs in the game against the Browns. The unused AZO back (squares in the corner) has writing with the notation “NOTICE. The Value of This card cannot be estimated”. I concur. The front of the card is near mint, the back has writing.
Minimum Bid $1,000.

Lot 220.  Interesting group of 6 better postcards. Group includes 1. Rare Mickey Mantle bat on shoulder pose Dormand postcard, unused ex-mt. 2. 1939 Orcajo team real photo postcard of Champion Cincinnati Reds (ex, with pencil notations on back). 3. Minimum Bid $500.

Lot 221.  Rare real photo 1950 postcard of the Hornell Dodgers with Don Zimmer and Charlie Neal. Team photo with 18 members of the Dodger farm team who won the pennant in 1950 with an 81-43 record. The card was not used but has been written on with pertinent information, e.g. Neal is in 2nd row, 2nd from right and Zimmer is in 1st row, far right. Excellent condition with note to the writing on the rear.
Winning Bid $294.

All are ex+-mt mint except the DiMaggio which was postally used in 1964.
Winning Bid $400.
