19th Century

  20 Lots    «

Lot 27.  N172 Old Judge George Treadway, Denver. Very difficult team change 1889 card. Of his 3 poses, this is the only one on which Denver is noted as his team. The card appears ex-mt but has an imperceivable printing wrinkle on the right side (not visible in scan).
Winning Bid $500.

Lot 28.  N172 Old Judge George Van Haltren, Chicago. Excellent photo quality on the card of the should-be Hall of Famer. Nicely centered, top photo quality and a clean back. Only negative is a tiny speck of paper loss in the top lower in the bottom left corner.
Winning Bid $750.

Lot 28a.  1889 Old Judge of James "Tip" O'Neill. One of the greatest hitters of the 19th Century. O'Neil batted a record .435 in 1887. The batting pose card has a pink tint and an otherwise clean front. The back shows some glue and album remains.
Minimum Bid $250.

Lot 29.  The “Golden Hours Magazine” of July 7, 1900, with a drawn, color composite of the New York Giants Baseball Club. Accompanied by a nearly 2 page article entitled “New York vs. Brooklyn Battle for the 1900 Pennant”.  Brooklyn was defending their 1899 Championship and they won again in 1900 as the Giants finished last. The attractive color drawing has some interesting players including George Davis (HOF), George Van Haltren (should be HOF), Jack Doyle and Charles Frisbee, who is a tough player to get a picture of. The cover is split at the spine but is in otherwise excellent condition.
Winning Bid $220.
