Lot 183.  Recently discovered Winthrop Moving Picture Post Card of Boxer George Dixon. Numbered #10, this is the first boxer to be discovered in this extremely rare and innovative postcard set previously believed to contain only major league baseball players. The movie shows a match between Dixon and Chester Leon from 1906. The postcard measures 3 5/8” x 2 ¼”, slightly smaller than the baseball counterparts. The inside back cover has the simple directions. Previous sales of Winthrop movies, all baseball players have been in the thousands of dollars. The movie is in excellent condition despite some creasing on the cover.

Highlights: 52-Attell (very good), 55-Jefferies (vg-ex, but 2 pencil initials on back), 67-Ketchel (vg), 76-Jack Johnson (slight paper loss in corners, spot of paper loss on rear and 3 pin holes); Balance: 2 cards vg-ex, 8 cards very good, 4 cards good-very good, 3 cards good, 1 card fair-good, 4 cards fair;

Lot 187.  1932 Graphic All-Sports Dinner contest postcard featuring 15 greats from various sports including Babe Ruth. Issued for the June 21, 1932 heavyweight championship fight between Max Schmeling and Jack Sharkey involving a contest for the best essay describing the bout. The front of the card shows a group of 15 numbered individuals in dress clothes including Ruth, footballer Albie Booth, and several fighters including Schmeling and Sharkey. In fair-good condition and mailed 5 days before the fight.
